About the Concert
Short and Bohemian: Dvořák's symphonies are so popular not least because of their typically Bohemian "sound". His Ninth is certainly the best known, but he also pulls out all the stops in this respect in his Sixth, bringing the sound of his homeland to the concert hall. Yet it had a start with obstacles. The Vienna Philharmonic did not want to perform the symphony first, rejecting it as too "Czech". Instead, their Prague colleagues took it over, and so successfully that the third movement had to be repeated at the premiere...
In our abFRACKt series, things are different: the concert lasts no more than an hour, the musicians don't play in black tails, and no one has to fear clapping in the wrong place.
And you don't need any special knowledge to understand the music "correctly". Just come, listen and be surprised. And if you want to learn more about the music, you can download the free Wolfgang app onto your smartphone and be guided through the respective work live in concert.
Afterwards, we invite you to stay in our foyers, get a glass of wine or beer in the Café "Tutti" and relax a bit more, talk or simply look out over the city from the balcony...
