ALPHAVILLE - “40th Anniversary - The Symphonic Tour”

Featuring the world hits Forever Young, Big In Japan and Sounds like a Melody from the current album "Eternally Yours".

About the Concert

Alphaville, Germany's biggest synth-pop export and creators of the legendary 80s anthems "Big in Japan," "Sounds like a Melody" and "Forever Young," are venturing into the symphonic: tickets for their 2023 anniversary tour on Germany's major classical stages are on sale now!

Alphaville look back on 40 years of band history and take this as an opportunity to export their greatest hits to the symphonic world. Their new album "Eternally Yours" (Edel Neue Meister), announced for September 23, 2022, is more than just a translation of Alphaville classics into the sound spectrum of a large orchestra. It is rather a symbiosis between Marian Gold's unique vocal abilities, the original Alphaville sound and the majestically powerful facet of the large-scale German Film Orchestra Babelsberg.

"To my ears, "Eternally Yours" sounds as if it were really the first Alphaville album - except that it wasn't released forty years ago. We just didn't have an orchestra at hand back then," explains lead singer Marian Gold: "All 23 pieces have become clearer at their core through the arrangement, they are exposed, unleashed, liberated. Their true nature came out."

To completely rearrange Alphaville's greatest hits from 40 years of the band's history and to re-record them with the Deutsches Filmorchester Babelsberg is in this sense a logical step and at the same time a masterstroke. Marian Gold and his arrangers Max Knoth and Christian Lohr succeed in providing the appropriate sound content to the musical content of the songs. The first harbinger of this undertaking is the single release "Big in Japan", which will be released on April 29, 2022.

"Eternally Yours" is about permanence and transience, and the all-new, titular song reads like a farewell letter. "I didn't write a line myself for the song, all the words and all the thoughts came from Shakespeare ...," Gold explains, "I just put them together intertextually and made minimal adjustments to make them more singable for me."

The anticipation of Alphaville fans for the live staging of the new album in venues that are as extraordinary as they are appropriate for the concept is great. Reinhardt Grahl of Meistersinger Konzerte: "We are thrilled to bring these grandiose songs, which have left their mark on generations of music fans worldwide, to the great philharmonic houses of Germany. The album "Eternally Yours" is an absolute stroke of luck and the challenge of adequately realizing the concept live is tailor-made for the profile of MSK Meistersinger. We are very much looking forward to working with Alphaville and the team at Edel Neue Meister."

For all Alphaville fans, this tour means a ticket to happy memories of great times and at the same time completely new impressions when their synth heroes of the 80s present themselves on Germany's classical stages with full philharmonic force!
