About the Concert

In our last short concert of the season, we travel north. The Finn Jean Sibelius was always in search of the perfect sound. So relentlessly that it took him three attempts to complete his Fifth Symphony. He himself called it a "struggle with God". It was certainly worth it; the work is a veritable firework of musical ideas. From the very first bar, Sibelius accelerates the tempo and we are swept into a maelstrom of constantly changing motifs and timbres. Will there also be pauses for rest? Jaime Martin will explore the heights and depths of the symphony with the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra and give an answer to this question as well...

In our abFRACKt series, a few things are different: the concert only lasts an hour at the most, the musicians don't play in black tailcoats and no one has to fear clapping in the wrong place.

And you certainly don't need any special knowledge to understand the music "properly". Just come, listen and be surprised. And if you want to learn more about the music, you can download the free Wolfgang app onto your smartphone and be guided through the respective work live in concert. Afterwards, we invite you to stay in our foyers, get another glass of wine or beer in the Café "Tutti" and relax a bit more, talk or simply look out over the city from the balcony...
