In the current season Christel Loetzsch sang Arnold Schönberg's Pierrot Lunaire with the Dresden Philharmonic under the baton of Marek Janowski, the Drummer in Victor Ullmann's Der Kaiser von Atlantis with the Munich Radio Orchestra under Patrick Hahn and Fricka in Wagner's Rheingold at the Bühnen Bern. She will also make her role debut as Amme in Richard Strauss' Die Frau ohne Schatten at Oper Frankfurt and sing a Dallapiccola programme with the Budapest Festival Orchestra conducted by Franck Ollu. This summer she will also make her role debut as Giovane Dante in Dusapin's Il viaggio, Dante at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence.

In the coming season she will sing, among others, Flosshilde in Rheingold and Götterdämmerung and Grimgerde in Richard Wagner's Walküre with the Dresden Philharmonic under Marek Janowski.

Christel Loetzsch made her debut as Penthesilea in Pascal Dusapin's opera of the same name at the Philharmonie de Paris in November 2020 and was subsequently re-invited by the Orchestre de Paris to sing Le soleil des eaux by Pierre Boulez under Klaus Mäkelä.

In 2019 she made her debut under Alain Altinoglu in a new production at the Theatre La Monnaie in Brussels singing the role of the 3rd Witch in the opera Macbeth Underworld by Pascal Dusapin and sang Fricka in Rheingold and Walküre at the Landestheater Niederbayern.

In the 2015-2018 seasons Loetzsch was a permanent ensemble member at the Theater & Philharmonie Thüringen with numerous successful role debuts including Octavian (Rosenkavalier), Maddalena (Rigoletto), Nancy (Martha), Ljubóff (Mazeppa)and Leokadja Begbick (Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny).

In two seasons 2012-14 in the Junge Ensemble at the Semperoper Dresden, she debuted in the roles of Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel), Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Flora (La traviata), among others, and worked with conductors such as Carlo Montanaro, Constantin Trinks, Omer Meir Wellber and Christian Thielemann.
In 2013 she made her US debut at San Francisco Opera as Dorabella (Così fan tutte) under the baton of Nicola Luisotti and in 2012 sang Zerlina (Don Giovanni) in a new production by Franco Zeffirelli at the Arena di Verona under the baton of Daniel Oren.

Christel Loetzsch attended the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar after graduating from the Musikgymnasium Karlsruhe. From October 2010, the young mezzo-soprano studied at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan.
