Beethoven's Seventh Symphony is one of his most energetic works and thrives on rhythm: hardly any other orchestral piece appears so much in motion. The solemn beginning already escalates step by step into an enthralling dynamic of sound. Particularly well-known is the second movement, whose calm, penetrating character immediately captivates many listeners. Despite personal crises, Beethoven wrote music here full of strength and optimism. Contemporaries were so enthusiastic that individual movements had to be repeated immediately. To this day, the symphony is considered a work that is catchy as well as dance-inducing.
