About the Concert
Like the Kreuzchor, the Thomanerchor Leipzig is one of the world's most renowned boys' choirs. It is making its first guest appearance in the new concert hall and, together with the Gewandhaus Orchestra, is bringing a work that ranks among the highlights of classical music. Even its premiere was a unique success with audiences. No wonder, if one thinks alone of the description of chaos at the beginning, which precedes the creation of light in the Bible. And how effective it is when, in the middle of the somber, quiet rumble of the music to the words "Let there be light!" the orchestra suddenly bursts into full volume and radiant C major. Sometimes, even today, the lights in the hall go on exactly at this point! The work is not lacking in effects, but it impresses above all by its musical language, with which Haydn tells The Creation of the World. No minute is too long...
