About the Concert

Under the direction of Tobias Engeli, the State Youth Orchestra of Saxony, together with the Children's Choir of the Leipzig Opera and the Petits Chanteurs de Lyon, presents an exciting program on stage: Messiaen's sonically intense "Les Offrandes oubliées" meets Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 2 "Lobgesang" – a combination of symphonic power and spiritual depth. Supported by soloists from the Leipzig University of Music, an evening between reflection and new beginnings is created – with fresh energy, grand sound, and touching moments.

Biographies

Tobias Engeli

Tobias Engeli stood at the podium for the first time at the age of 15 and has loved conducting ever since. Today he is Kapellmeister at the Leipzig Musical Comedy and Opera. His versatility and openness lead him not only to the usual opera repertoire but also to world premieres, e.g. at the Munich Biennale 2008, to modern pop musicals or to a DVD production with the successful Leipzig band "Die Prinzen".
