Saint Petersburg, October 28, 1893. Nine days before his death, Peter Tchaikovsky conducts the premiere of his Sixth Symphony. He refers to it as a "program symphony" - with a secret program, that is top secret: "It is of a nature that it will remain a mystery for everyone! The work progressed so passionately, so quickly, that in less than four days I had the first movement completely finished and the other movements were already clear in my mind!" As if he had foreseen that he did not have much time left for composing. This symphony, with the nickname "Pathétique," is a truly dramatic, tragic, gripping, very passionate masterpiece - peculiar and unique.
