About the Concert

Beethoven's symphonies belong to the "basic equipment" of all orchestras. Who has not heard the "ta-ta-ta-taaaa" somewhere! What is so fascinating about his works? Why did Beethoven become a classic in the first place? What is behind "Fate Symphony" - the nickname of the Fifth Symphony? The Dresden Philharmonic invites students to learn about the music and life of Beethoven.

Biographies

Stephanie Childress

Since winning 2nd prize at the 2020 La Maestra Conducting Competition, Stephanie Childress has built an international career on both sides of the Atlantic. The young Franco-British conductor impresses on the concert stage and in the orchestra pit with her strong ideas, clear communication and highly focussed energy, which the future Principal Guest Conductor of the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra will also demonstrate in her debut with the Dresden Philharmonic.

Michael Kube

Concept

Michael Kube is a passionate music educator. Since the 2015/16 season, he has been organizing school concerts and family concerts in the Dresden Philharmonic's "phil zu entdecken" series.
