How to feel comfortable on your first concert visit
We want you to feel comfortable with us – and so should all our other guests. Here’s our little concert etiquette guide along with some practical hints:
Hall Opening
The Kulturpalast opens at least one hour before the performance begins. Admission to the hall itself starts 30 minutes before the performance.
To check your coat and find your seat without any rush, we recommend arriving around 30 minutes before the concert begins.
If you miss the start of the concert, you may enter the hall later at a time determined by our staff – but no later than the interval (if there is one).
Duration & Intermission
Our symphony concerts usually last about 2 hours, including an intermission of around 25 minutes. Our short concerts and family concerts generally run 1 to 1.5 hours (depending on the program and presentation) and do not include an intermission.
Dresscode
Only the orchestra has a dress code!
Our guests follow their own style: some like to dress up, others prefer to keep it casual. Whatever you choose, we look forward to welcoming you! Please note, however, that coats and bags must be left at the cloakroom before the concert. The service is free of charge.
Restrooms
Restrooms are located on every floor, to the left and right of the stairwell. Use of the facilities during performances is, of course, free of charge.
All restrooms in the stalls and balconies are accessible. Wheelchair-accessible restrooms can be found on the ground floor and in the stalls/ZW area. These require a Euro key. Our staff on site will be happy to assist you.
Photos & Videos
Please pay attention to the announcement at the start of the concert regarding photography and videography. If no restrictions are announced, you are welcome to take personal photos or short videos – strictly for private use. Please ensure that flash and sound are turned off.
Photos and videos from the concerts will also be shared afterward on our social media channels.
Food & Drinks
Eating and drinking is not allowed in the hall. Before the concert and during the intermission, the TUTTI on the 1st floor offers drinks and snacks (daily selection, no menu). After the concert, you can enjoy food and beverages at Café SOLO in the Kulturpalast or at the nearby restaurants and bars, all just a few minutes’ walk away.

Where to find your booking
If you have a customer account with us (orders placed through the webshop), you can log in here with your password. Alternatively, you are welcome to contact our Visitor Service by phone, in person during opening hours, or via email.
You can find our opening hours and contact details here.
Noise Level
Our modern hall, designed in vineyard-style architecture, offers excellent views and outstanding acoustics from every seat. This special acoustics also makes sounds from the audience clearly audible. We therefore kindly ask you to keep conversations to a minimum and as quiet as possible, silence your mobile devices, and step out briefly if coughing persists.
Applause
Traditionally, in classical concerts, applause is reserved for the end of a piece rather than between individual movements. But our view is this: music is meant to evoke emotions. So please feel free to applaud whenever you like.
