Andreas Boyde

Andreas Boyde comes from Oschatz/Saxony and studied in Dresden with Christa Holzweißig and Amadeus Webersinke and in London with James Gibb. He was decisively influenced by his mentor and patron Malcolm Frager.

The sought-after pianist travels internationally to leading music centres and performs as a soloist with renowned orchestras such as the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Prague Radio Orchestra, the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra, the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, the Virtuosi Saxoniae, the Miami Symphony Orchestra, the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, the Hallé Orchestra Manchester, the Dresden Symphony Orchestra, the Bolshoi Symphony Orchestra, the London Mozart Players, the Dresden Kapellsolisten and the Berlin Symphony Orchestra. He was also Artist in Residence with the Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt for the 2018/19 season.

Andreas Boyde's wide-ranging repertoire includes focal points from all epochs. He has also given the European premiere of contemporary compositions such as Paul Schoenfield's piano concerto Four Parables and the world premiere of John Pickard's piano concerto dedicated to him.

In November 2017, Boyde's orchestral version of Schumann's Forest Scenes was premiered by the Dresdner Kapellsolisten in the new hall of the Dresden Kulturpalast.

The pianist has recorded the complete piano works of Johannes Brahms on CD for OehmsClassics in co-production with Westdeutscher Rundfunk.

Andreas Boyde's reconstruction of Robert Schumann's Schubert Variations, published by Hofmeister Musikverlag, testifies to his musicological interest. This work was first heard in New York as part of a Schumann piano recital and has since attracted great attention.

Numerous radio and television recordings as well as CD releases round off his pianistic activities.

In 2012 he was entered in the City of Oschatz's Book of Honour.

Andreas Boyde lives in London and Melbourne.
