Hans-Richard Ludewig was born in Dresden and received his classical piano training at the Sächsischen Spezialschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber (Saxon Special School for Music) with Christa and Erika Holzweißig. In 1991, he took second place at the "Virtuosi per musica di pianoforte" International Piano Competition in Usti, Czech Republic, and in 1992, he won first prize at "Jugend musiziert" in Nuremberg.
He later studied piano JRP (jazz, rock, and pop) with Michael Fuchs and Mathias Bätzel, as well as composition and arrangement (JRP) with Rainer Lischkaan at the Dresden Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber. Since 2007, he has been a lecturer in piano JRP at his alma mater.
Hans-Richard Ludewig is one of Dresden's most successful pianists in the field between serious and popular music, as well as a sought-after theater, orchestra, band, and studio musician. He has already participated in numerous theater and studio productions, including at the Komödie Dresden, the Societaetstheater Dresden, the Dresdner Schauspielhaus, the Landesbühnen Sachsen, and the Nationaltheater Weimar. He is also a member of various ensembles, including the Leipzig Pops Orchestra, the Dresdner Sinfoniker, the Neue Elblandphilharmonie, the Dresdner Ballhausensemble, Götz Bergmann & his Gentlemen, and Marc Hartmann & sein Tanzorchester.
