Michael Rotschopf

 

Austrian actor Michael Rotschopf, born in Tyrol, began his career in the ensemble of the Vienna Burgtheater while still studying acting at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna and singing in the Arnold Schoenberg Choir. He has also appeared in successful productions at the Schauspiel Frankfurt am Main and has frequently performed at the Salzburg Festival.

 

He has worked with renowned theater directors, including Peter Stein in the legendary 24-hour "Faust" project as Baccalaureus and in "Wallenstein". A multiple award winner—including the Grimme Prize—Michael Rotschopf plays his roles in theater and often in films with masterful acting, sophistication, and impressive presence.

 

He can currently be seen in the new episodes of the popular German television series "Ku'damm 77". He appeared as a narrator in the US premiere of Bernd Alois Zimmermann's "Requiem for a Young Poet" at Carnegie Hall in New York, subsequently performing in Paris, London, and Berlin. Michael Rotschopf is also active as a narrator of radio plays and audiobooks.
