The Amazon wilderness impresses with its overwhelming beauty and biodiversity. Inspired by this natural environment, Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos created a monumental symphonic cantata. Conductor Simone Menezes has compiled a suite from this work, which is given particular expressiveness in the Dresden Philharmonic's performance through the images of photographer Sebastião Salgado. His impressive photographs show both the fascination of flora and fauna and the dramatic consequences of human intervention in biodiversity. While the orchestra plays live, Salgado's images will be shown on the big screen.

The American violinist Benjamin Beilman has won international praise for his passionate performances and his distinctive tone. He performs regularly with the major orchestras of the US, but also travels extensively as a soloist throughout Europe, Asia and Australia. He plays well-known repertoire pieces but is also very interested in contemporary music and has already premiered several works. He has been teaching at his alma mater, the Curtis Institute of Music, since 2022.
