About the Concert

Plastic bottles, flower pots and coffee capsules - what sounds like household waste and a throwaway society becomes a musical instrument in this concert. Vivi Vassileva uses unusual objects for Gregor Mayrhofer's concert for recycling percussion and gets the audience thinking about an unsolved problem. It heralds the end of our "Luftwurzel" project: after several months on the Kulturpalast forecourt, the willows are now being auctioned off. Whether Beethoven had willows in mind when he composed his Sixth Symphony, the famous "Pastoral", we do not know. But quite clearly we hear the babbling of a brook, birdsong and experience a tangible musical thunderstorm. And probably imagine an untouched nature that we long for more than ever.
