About the Concert
The Prague Festival Ballet presents
"The Nutcracker by P. Tchaikovsky
The Prague Festival Ballet takes the audience into a wonderland of the playful and romantic, the fairy-tale and the dreamy. The enchanting plot fascinates and delights a wide audience again and again: On Christmas Eve, Klara is given a nutcracker as a gift, which takes her away in a dream to distant, fairytale lands and worlds. She dreams of a battle of the toy soldiers led by the Nutcracker against the army of the Mouse King. Klara rescues her beloved Nutcracker and helps him to victory. The Nutcracker transforms into a prince and the two are subsequently rewarded and celebrated by exotic creatures and even flowers.
Famous arrangements such as the Flower Waltz, the Snowflake Waltz and also the motifs of the "Divertissement" appeal equally to all audiences.
The composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
The great Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky devoted a large part of his work to ballet. His most famous ballet works are "Swan Lake", "Sleeping Beauty" and "The Nutcracker". All of them are about fairy tales set to music and danced. In different ways, Tchaikovsky leads us in these works into an ever new world of enchantment, wonder and magic.
