About the Concert

"All rejoice and hope when spring renews itself," said Friedrich Schiller. Right on time for the beginning of spring, our young musicians invite the audience on an exciting musical journey from the mid-18th to the mid-20th century. Joseph Haydn's very special Symphony in F minor, La passione, already suggests a connection between the Easter and Passion season and Ostara - the Germanic goddess of spring, fertility, and dawn. The inspiration of the program becomes clear through the rich tributes of Frederik Delius, Jean Sibelius, or Lili Boulanger to the new season, and the musical journey also takes us through distant and unique landscapes of the European continent: from the idyllic British plains to the cool Parisian mornings and up to the boreal Finnish forest. Less picturesque, but brilliantly vivid, the tragic story behind Antonín Dvorak's The Wood Dove fascinatingly explores the contrasting colors of the wilderness. The inexhaustible power of nature (and music) ultimately gives us light, warmth, and coziness, which could only be complemented by the scents of southern roses.
