About the Concert

A piano festival naturally also needs a gifted jazz pianist, and Michael Wollny can be described as such, as the FAZ writes: "Michael Wollny can rightly be mentioned in the same breath as Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Brad Mehldau, Stefano Bollani and Paul Bley. He brings everything you can ask of a perfect jazz pianist: virtuoso technique, exuberant imagination, discipline and the capacity for creative chaos, sensuality as well as aesthetic flair." At the Kulturpalast, he will be joined by his trio, in which drummer Eric Schaefer, who comes from Frankfurt, and American bassist Tim Lefebvre will guarantee perfect musical support for the master at the piano.
