About the Concert

An operatic subject matter that inspires but also polarises, that has been researched and discussed many times and that still seems to be untold today - all this is Richard Wagner's monumental "Ring" tetralogy, with which the composer exploded the genre boundaries in terms of music and performance practice with a bang. In four parts with a total duration of sixteen hours, the protagonists in Wagner's complex mythological universe experience fates and entanglements on which not only their existence, but the existence of the entire world depends. "Das Rheingold" is the prelude to the epochal tale of power and defeat, love and jealousy, war and peace and, last but not least, the essential questions about the nature of all life.
