About the Concert

"Summer, sun, vacation time" - Summer is finally here! Together with young artists from the Saxon State High School of Music, the Dresden Philharmonic Children's Choir goes in search of summer songs from all over the world. The sun is shining from the sky, beckoning us out into the green fields, beckoning us out to the meadows where flowers bloom colorfully. Songs from near and far countries tell exciting stories and get us in the mood for summer vacation. Old, well-known, but also new and unknown melodies make the hall resound and certainly invite you to sing along - because: singing together makes joy and good mood.

Philharmonischer Kinderchor Dresden

The children's choir owes its foundation to an initiative of the then chief conductor of the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra, Kurt Masur, in 1967 and thus looks back on a history of more than fifty years. Today, the Dresden Philharmonic Children's Choir is one of the best-known and most successful children's choirs in Germany. The continuous professional work with the children is supported by the close cooperation with the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra.

Young chamber orchestra

The ensemble for young string players was founded shortly after the founding of the then Special School of Music in Dresden in 1965 in order to specifically promote the interplay and shared sound culture of young musicians. Over the decades, members of the Dresden Philharmonic and the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden took turns conducting the chamber orchestra and accompanying the ensemble to concerts throughout Germany.
