About the Concert

A symphony like a book - comparisons are sometimes misleading, but you would not be wrong to compare the symphony "Kaddish" by the Polish composer Weinberg with a monumental novel. One that traces an entire epoch, with many characters, situations and voices. Varied and so exciting that you don't want to stop reading - in this case, listening. "Kaddish" is dedicated to the victims of the Warsaw Uprising in 1943, in which many of the composer's relatives also lost their lives. So tragedy, sadness and despair define the music, but music always leaves hope: by awakening feelings, it also awakens the human in us.

The concerts on 10 and 11 MAY will take place as part of the commemoration of 80 years since the end of the Second World War and will also be performed in Wrocław.
They continue the cooperation between the Dresden Philharmonic and the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic.

Sergei Babayan

The meditative focus and rare stillness of Armenian-American pianist Sergei Babayan’s keyboard artistry prompted the Hamburger Abendblatt to liken him to “one of those Japanese calligraphers who contemplate the white page before them in silence until, at the exact right moment, their brush makes its instinctive, perfect sweep across the paper”.
