Anna Lapkovskaja

Anna Lapkovskaja was born in Minsk and grew up in Munich.

Highlights of recent seasons were her role debut as Dalila in Samson et Dalila under the baton of Thomas Guggeis at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin and her debut as Judith in Bluebeard's Castle at the Opéra de Lyon. She made her house debut at the Teatro Real Madrid with the 1st Norn in Wagner’s Götterdämmerung under Pablo Heras Casado and was subsequently invited back as Magdalene for the new production of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. She also appeared in the new Ring at the Berlin State Opera and in the Dresden Ring at the Semperoper, both under the baton of Christian Thielemann.
She also made her debuts in Wiesbaden as Adalgisa in Bellini's Norma, at the Teatro Colón as Mascha in Eötvös' Tri Sestri and as Preziosilla in Verdi's La forza del destino at the Ópera Nacional de Chile. She sang the title role in Bizet's Carmen with the MDR Symphony Orchestra at the Gewandhaus Leipzig. Other roles in her repertoire include Charlotte in Werther and Strauss's Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier). Anna Lapkovskaja has made guest appearances as well at other leading opera houses and festivals, including the Bavarian State Opera, the Teatro alla Scala di Milano, the Bayreuth Festival and the BBC Proms. She has worked with directors such as Harry Kupfer, Dmitri Tcherniakov, Peter Sellars, Andrea Breth, Robert Carsen and Damián Szifron.

In addition to her operatic activities, the singer devotes herself intensively to concert singing. Under Daniel Barenboim she performed Boulez' Le visage nuptial, among other works. She sang Verdi's Messa da Requiem and Berlioz' Les nuits d'été with Sascha Goetzel, Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde with the Staatskapelle Berlin and Mahler’s 2nd Symphony under the baton of Alexander Soddy. She has a regular collaboration with Sir Simon Rattle, under whom she has already appeared as Varvara in Janáček's Katja Kabanowa at the Staatsoper Berlin. Most recently, she performed Stravinsky Journey with the Berlin Philharmonic and LSO London under his baton. In the current season, she can be heard in Antonín Dvořák's Requiem with the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Michael Sanderling in Prague and Dresden.
