Dirk Oschmann, born in Gotha in 1967, is a professor of modern German literature at the University of Leipzig. His 2022 FAZ article "Wie sich der Westen den Osten erfindet." was widely shared and commented on. In 2023, based on it, he published his book "The East: A West German Invention."
