The Dresden Consort was founded in 2024 by harpsichordist and organist Sebastian Knebel to devote itself to the performance of Renaissance and early Baroque compositions together with proven early music specialists, primarily members of the Dresdner Barockorchester.
The size of the consort varies depending on the program selection and ranges from individual continuo players to a large instrumental ensemble. The musicians also regularly work with vocalists. Most recently, a performance of Heinrich Schütz's "Musikalische Exequien" together with the vocal quintet amarcord (Leipzig) received great attention. In 2025, the Dresden Consort will play the opening of the KlangStromFestival in Dresden-Loschwitz, among other things.
Line-up for the concert at the Kulturpalast on June 19, 2026:
Katharina Schlegel, viola da gamba
Tillmann Steinhöfel, violone
Stefan Maass, lute
Sebastian Knebel, organ
