About the Concert

The Dresden Kreuzchor presents a varied programme featuring a light performance with works by Heinrich Schütz, motets by Johann Sebastian Bach, and contemporary music. In addition to a cappella compositions and those accompanied by a Baroque consort, works featuring a highly rarely heard instrument will be performed: the glass harmonica. A particular highlight is the performance of Ēriks Ešenvalds’ "Stars", an impressive choral work accompanied by the glass harmonica. The ethereal sounds of the water-tuned glasses give the music an almost otherworldly dimension – calm and cosmic, yet mysterious and spiritual. The sensitive words of the work merge with the floating sounds to create an intense listening experience.

At the invitation of the Dresden Philharmonic

Dresdner Kreuzchor

The Dresdner Kreuzchor is one of the oldest and most famous boys' choirs in the world. Even after more than 800 years, one of its most important tasks is to sing in the liturgical services of the Kreuzkirche on Dresden's Altmarkt, where it performs in vespers and church services and regularly gives concerts with outstanding works of sacred music. In addition, the Crucians (Kruzianer), who have been singing under the direction of Martin Lehmann since 2022, regularly go on tours at home and abroad as cultural ambassadors for Dresden.
