Dresden Consort

The Dresden Consort was founded in 2024 by harpsichordist and organist Sebastian Knebel to dedicate itself, together with established early music specialists – primarily members of the Dresden Baroque Orchestra – to the performance of compositions from the Renaissance and early Baroque periods.

The size of the consort varies depending on the programme selection, ranging from individual continuo players to a large instrumental ensemble. The musicians also regularly collaborate with vocal soloists. Most recently, a performance of Heinrich Schütz’s "Musikalische Exequien" together with the vocal quintet amarcord (Leipzig) attracted considerable attention. In 2025, the Dresden Consort performed, among other things, at the opening of the KlangStromFestival in Dresden-Loschwitz.

Line-up for the concert at the Kulturpalast on 19 June 2026:

Katharina Schlegel, viola da gamba
Tillmann Steinhöfel, violone
Stefan Maass, lute
Sebastian Knebel, organ
