Violin (temporary contract)
in the orchestra since 2021/22

Hobin Yi was born in Seoul (South Korea) in 1998. He studied with Prof. Susanna Yoko Henkel at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln from 2014 to 2018, with Prof. Carolin Widmann at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater "Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy" Leipzig from 2018 to 2021 and with Hellen Weiß and Eva Dollfuß at the Hochschule für Musik "Carl Maria von Weber" Dresden from 2021 to 2023.
Since 2023 he has his concert exam at the "Robert Schumann"- Hochschule Düsseldorf with Prof. Andrej Bielow. He participated in master classes with Igor Ozim, Mi-Kyung Lee, Nora Chastain, Erik Schumann, Latica Honda-Rosenberg, Amaryllis Quartet, Casals Quartet and gained chamber music experience at the
Musethica Festival in Zaragosa, Harmos Festival in Porto, the Chamber Music Festival Schwandorf, Musicalta Festival, and the Bach Festival Leipzig.


In 2016, he was awarded the special prize at the Anton Rubinstein International Knopf Violin Competition, and in 2018, he was awarded the second prize and the audience prize at the University Chamber Music Competition in Leipzig.
He gained orchestral experience as a substitute in the MDR Symphony Orchestra and as a member of the Orchestra Academy of the Staatskapelle Halle, the Kurt Masur Academy of the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Davos Festival Academy.
Hobin Yi has a temporary contract of 1st violin tutti with the Dresden Philharmonic since the 2023/2024 season.
