Hyelin Yun was born in Seoul (South Korea) in 1996. She completed her bachelor's degree in violin at the Cologne University of Music and Dance with Prof. Susanna Yoko Henkel from 2014 to 2018 before switching to the viola and continuing her studies at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music Dresden with Christina Biwank from 2019 to 2021. Since 2021 she has also been pursuing postgraduate studies in concert performance at the Hochschule für Musik Mainz with Claudia Bussian. She took part in master classes with Prof. Hartmut Rohde, Prof. Thomas Selditz and Prof. Tatjana Masurenko and gained chamber music experience at the ISA Music Festival with Xenia Jankovic, Candida Thompson, Kilian Herold and Markus Schirmer. She gained orchestral experience as an academist with the Magdeburg Philharmonic Orchestra and as an intern with the New Philharmonic Orchestra Berlin. Since the beginning of the 2021/22 season, Hyelin Yun has been a member of the Kurt Masur Academy - Orchestra Academy of the Dresden Philharmonic.
