Matthias Reichwald was born in Magdeburg in 1981 and received many years of training in piano, composition, choral conducting and conducting as part of a specialized music class. After many projects in youth theater and as an extra, he studied at the Hochschule für Schauspielkunst Ernst Busch in Berlin from 2001 to 2005. In 2007 and 2011, he was involved in productions at the Theatertreffen in Berlin and in 2010 he was nominated Actor of the Year.
He lives with his family in Dresden, where he has appeared in numerous productions at the Staatsschauspiel in recent years. He also works regularly as an opera and theater director, as a speaker and as a lecturer in acting in German-speaking countries.
At the Staatsoperette Dresden, he recently directed "La Bohème" by Giacomo Puccini and "Cabaret" by John Kander, and at the Staatsschauspiel Dresden he directed "Komet" by Durs Grünbein.
He also appears in front of the camera time and again, in the past for example for the Berlin, Dresden and Cologne Tatort.
