Cellist Minjoung Kim gained international attention through her successes at major international competitions such as the Concours de Genève, the Paulo International Cello Competition, and the Cassadó International Cello Competition. She was awarded first prize at the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition.
She performs internationally as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral musician. She has appeared at venues including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Konzerthaus in Dortmund, and Suntory Hall in Tokyo. In 2025, she served as associate principal cellist of the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden.
Minjoung Kim completed her bachelor’s degree at the Basel University of Music under Ivan Monighetti and her master’s degree at the Kronberg Academy. She is currently continuing her studies toward a concert exam at the Franz Liszt University of Music in Weimar under Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt.
