Nino Haratischwili

Nino Haratischwili, born in 1983 in Tbilisi/Georgia and now a Berliner by choice, is an award-winning playwright, theater director and novelist. Her major family epic "The Eighth Life (For Brilka)" has been translated into 25 languages and has become a worldwide bestseller; a major international film adaptation is in preparation. Her work has received numerous awards, including the Anna Seghers Literature Prize, the Bertolt Brecht Prize and the Schiller Memorial Prize. Her novel "The Cat and the General" was shortlisted for the 2018 German Book Prize. In 2022, she published her latest, once again captivating novel "The Lack of Light" about a friendship between four Georgian women through the ages.
