Daniel Nils Schimmer was born on 23.09.2000 in Dresden. At the age of 5, he received his first horn lessons from Andreas Roth at the Heinrich Schütz Conservatory in Dresden. After graduating from high school in 2018, Daniel began his music studies at the Franz Liszt University of Music Weimar.
In March 2023, he was already able to perform the concert piece for four horns and orchestra by Robert Schumann as a soloist alongside the well-known solo hornist of the Berliner Philharmoniker Stefan Dohr and the Junge deutsche Philharmonie in halls such as the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Berliner Philharmonie and the Kölner Philharmonie.
Starting in September 2023, he will join the highly prestigious Mendelssohn Orchestra Academy of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra. In August 2023, he won second prize at the "Vincente Zarzo" International Horn Competition in Benaguasil, Spain.
