Sebastian Ludwig

Born in Böblingen in 1996, repetiteur and conductor Sebastian Ludwig was a multiple prize winner at Jugend musiziert as a chamber music partner and piano accompanist. In 2013 he began his studies in opera repetition at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar. While still a student, he made a guest appearance as a solo repetiteur with conducting duties at the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar in 2015. In 2017 he returned there as assistant to the choral director and also took part in the conducting master class at the Bayreuth Festival, where he worked with Christian Thielemann, Marek Janowski and Hartmut Haenchen. After graduating with a bachelor's degree, Sebastian Ludwig was engaged as a repetiteur in the Young Ensemble of the Semperoper Dresden from 2018 to 2020 and took over the musical direction of the Christmas concerts of the Dresden Youth Symphony Orchestra at the Kulturpalast Dresden in December 2019. For the 2020/21 season, he moved to the National Theater Mannheim as répétiteur and also conducted the children's opera "Schneewitte" (J. Joneleit) at the Semperoper in October 2020. He further made guest appearances as Musical Assistant at the Salzburg Easter Festival, among others, and has been associated with the Bayreuth Festival in this capacity for several years.

Since the 2022/23 season, Sebastian Ludwig has been engaged as a repetiteur at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. Here he also took over the conducting of Ullmann's "Der Kaiser von Atlantis" and was featured as a pianist in Lied matinees in the foyer of the Düsseldorf Opera. In the 2023/24 season, in addition to his work as a repetiteur, he will be responsible for the musical direction of Eggert's "Iwein Löwenritter".
