Teo Jorbenadze is a screenwriter, director and producer, working in the fields of cinema, music and multimedia performance. She was born in Tbilisi into a creative family and grew up surrounded by music; her father, the composer Tamaz Jorbenadze, was one of Georgia’s most famous musicians. She holds a Master’s degree in audiovisual arts from the State Theatre and Film Academy in Georgia.
Her career began in theatre and the cultural media. She later collaborated with the German cultural organisation Melchiorsgrund on international theatre productions staged in Germany, Poland and Bosnia, whilst also co-writing more than forty television films for Georgian public service broadcasting. In addition, she has maintained a long-standing partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
Since 2004, Teo has been the artistic director of the Iavnana Charity Foundation, which was founded by the renowned opera singer Paata Burchuladze. Under her artistic direction, more than a hundred televised charity marathons, gala concerts and large-scale cultural projects have been produced in Georgia and internationally, including at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Megaron Concert Hall and the Salle Pleyel, featuring artists such as Montserrat Caballé, Plácido Domingo, Ferruccio Furlanetto, Dolora Zajick and Dmitri Hvorostovsky.
In 2014, she founded the artists’ collective ConceptArt, an interdisciplinary platform for productions that combine music, film and performance. Among her most significant projects is “Memory Card”, which was created in collaboration with Nikoloz Rachveli and the Georgian Philharmonic Orchestra.
Her other works include the documentary film “Angels of Sorrow”, dedicated to the composer Giya Kancheli, and the multimedia performance “City Lights – Follow Your Dreams”, for which she served as screenwriter and director. The production, created in collaboration with the internationally acclaimed violinist Lisa Batiashvili, premiered in 2023 at the Theater am Potsdamer Platz in Berlin.
Her latest film, *On Another Stage*, was presented in 2026 at the
European Film Market at the Berlin International Film Festival.
