Thomas Weiler, born in the Black Forest in 1978, studied translation in Leipzig, Berlin and St. Petersburg. He has been working as a freelance translator from Polish, Russian and Belarusian since 2007. Thomas Weiler translates fiction, poetry and children's books. He has been awarded the German Youth Literature Prize, the Karl Dedecius Prize, the Paul Celan Prize and the August Wilhelm von Schlegel Visiting Professorship for Poetics of Translation, among others. In 2025, he was honoured with the Leipzig Book Fair Prize for his translation from Belarusian of "Feuerdörfer. Wehrmacht Crimes in Belarus - Contemporary Witnesses Report" by Ales Adamowitsch, Janka Bryl and Uladsimir Kalesnik.
