Torsten Gottschalk attended the Belvedere Music High School in Weimar from 1979 to 1984 and then studied at the local conservatory with Prof. Biehlig until 1988. From 1988 to 1997 he was principal horn of the Thüringen Philharmonic Suhl, and from 1997 to 2007 he held the same position at the Staatstheater Meiningen. In 2007 he joined the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra as 3rd horn.
