Concertgoers rarely see orchestra warden Matthias Richter. Mostly during concert breaks, for example, when he pushes the grand piano into place or hands the conductor a score. But his work begins long before the concert, when he and the conductor draw up a stage plan of where the individual musicians will sit. And it only ends when the last music stands have been tidied away. It gets really exciting for him when the orchestra goes on tour. He has to pack all the sheet music and instruments correctly and make sure that nothing is forgotten and that everything is reassembled in time in the concert halls elsewhere...
