About the Concert

Mozart's Piano Concerto in D minor is one of his most exciting works and has lost none of its power even 200 years after its creation. The key – D minor – already indicates that this is not about light entertainment. This music tells of great emotions: drama, longing, and passion. He wrote the concerto at a time when he was forging new paths with his music and experimenting boldly. Particularly impressive is the dialogue between the piano and the orchestra – sometimes they are adversaries, sometimes they merge together. The melodies are so captivating that they became famous even then and continue to touch hearts to this day.

Entertaining and thrilling, Malte Arkona first gives a brief introduction to the work. Together with the conductors Julian Rachlin and the orchestra, they will play their favourite passages from the piano concerto: In just a short time, you will learn why this masterpiece should be heard at least once in a lifetime and why it is considered one of the "Best of Classical". Afterwards, you can enjoy the piano concerto in a short concert. Following that, we warmly welcome you at the bar on the first floor, where host Malte Arkona will engage in conversation with Julian Rachlin on a small stage and will gladly answer your questions. A concert, therefore, that not only allows you to listen but also to participate – an experience for all the senses!
