About the Concert

Of course, every child knows Pippi Longstocking. But with 'The Brothers Lionheart', Astrid Lindgren has also succeeded in writing a wonderful story, even though the subject is not so simple. In the story about the wild and moving adventures of the two brothers Karl ('Krümel') and Jonathan Lionheart in the land of Nangijala, she manages the tightrope act of introducing children to the subject of death without scaring them. For many, the book is therefore a source of comfort and encouragement for children. Philipp Matthias Kaufmann has given the novel a musical summary, and Erik Brünner will read it to the accompaniment of his music in our concert hall.
