A revolutionary as director of the Paris Conservatoire, unheard of! When Gabriel Fauré radically changed the curriculum of France's most venerable musical institution around 1900 and allowed the music of Wagner to be studied, he had a lot of people against him. He was not at all partisan, but simply open to all musical directions. And that's how he composed himself: neither completely traditional nor completely modern, he was only interested in quality. And the qualities of his music are amply demonstrated in this concert. Flowing melodies, French esprit and always a door open to the unexpected.

Biographies

Valda Wilson

German-based, Australian-born soprano Valda Wilson is an outstanding interpreter of the works of Mozart, Strauss, Handel, Verdi and Puccini, but also enjoys performing the works of contemporary composers. Her recent opera highlights include the critically acclaimed world premiere in 2023 in the title role of Sarah Nemtsov's Ophelia, followed by an equally successful Violetta(La traviata) and her debut as Suor Angelica(Il trittico) at the Saarländisches Staatstheater, where she has been a solo soprano for several years.

Christoph Berner

He established his reputation as one of the leading Austrian pianists of his generation with the "Mozart Prize" and the "Schumann Prize" at the 2003 Géza Anda Concours in Zurich, having already made a name for himself with 2nd prize at the International Beethoven Competition in Vienna in 1997 and victory at the "Bösendorfer Competition".

Charlotte Thiele

Charlotte Thiele, born in Dresden in 2000, is one of the most promising violinists of her generation.
She has already performed as a soloist in concert halls such as the Gewandhaus in Leipzig and the Margravial Opera House in Bayreuth and will make her debut at the Elbphilharmonie in 2024.

Hans Christian Martin

Hans Christian Martin was born in Zwickau in 1986. He received his first musical training in music theory, composition, violin and piano at the Robert Schumann Conservatory in his home town. From 2006 to 2014, he studied church music in Dresden and Weimar. He studied organ improvisation with Prof. Michael Kapsner, organ literature with Prof. Martin Strohhäcker and Prof. Silvius von Kessel, harpsichord with Raphael Alpermann and choral conducting with Prof. Christfried Brödel and Prof. Jürgen Puschbeck.
