Recital

Grigory Sokolov

A piano legend in recital

About the Concert

Grigory Sokolov is a legend. When he is referred to as one of the most significant pianists of the present day, it is not a claim but a widely acknowledged fact.
Critics of stature admit that they lack the right words to describe his art. But perhaps one does not need words at all, but simply allows oneself to be convinced by him directly. Art is "a parallel universe to reality," he says, and proves it in a unique way at each of his concerts. Thus, anticipation builds for an evening in which the pianist unveils his keyboard magic with music from the Baroque, the Viennese Classical period, or the Romantic era.

At the invitation of the Dresden Philharmonic in cooperation with DK Deutsche Klassik.

Biographies

Grigory Sokolov

Grigory Sokolov earns the greatest admiration for his piano playing wherever he performs in the world. The Russian pianist's poetic interpretations, which come to life in the concert hall with mystical intensity, arise from a profound knowledge of the works in his vast repertoire, which spans music history from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. After many years of performing as a concert soloist, he decided to play only solo recitals and to concentrate on a few works per season.
