About the Concert

"Clara, today I was blissful. During the rehearsal, a symphony by Franz Schubert was played. If only you had been there. It is indescribable. Those are human voices... like a novel in four volumes..." This was written by Robert Schumann to his future wife after an orchestral rehearsal in Leipzig. To this day, this symphony is considered a masterpiece of its genre. Impressive not only for its nearly one-hour length, but mainly because it musically encompasses everything that has continued to captivate classical music audiences. From the solemn beginning with the horns, through grand musical arcs and captivating melodies, to the sophisticated use of individual instruments. The flute also presents itself in a sophisticated and impressive manner, specifically in a flute concerto from the 19th century. Composed by the former conductor of the Gewandhaus, it will be performed by Kathrin Bäz, the principal flutist of the Dresden Philharmonic, at our concert."
