About the Concert

Please do not book any new tickets in this case. <br><br>“Once upon a time, in a galaxy far, far away…” For decades, the greatest science fiction saga in film history has captivated millions of fans of all generations worldwide, not least due to the film music by John Williams, which is among the most successful soundtracks in cinematic history. <br><br>In “STAR WARS: A New Hope,” the galaxy is under the cruel rule of the Empire following the annihilation of the Jedi Knights. Only a group of rebels, led by Princess Leia, manages to steal the plans for the Death Star and throw the Empire into turmoil. The plans reach the old Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi, who, along with his apprentice Luke Skywalker and the smugglers Han Solo and Chewbacca, takes up the fight against the Empire. An adventure of life and death begins, for Darth Vader is on their trail, determined to prevent the destruction of the Death Star.<br><br>The STAR WARS saga, meticulously crafted by George Lucas, has revolutionised the film landscape of Hollywood and has lost none of its fascination to this day. With its mythical story, compelling characters, and groundbreaking special effects, the Star Wars saga has become an icon of American culture. The Dresden Philharmonic will perform John Williams’ Oscar, Golden Globe, and Grammy-awarded music at the Kulturpalast, while the complete film is shown on a large screen. The concerts are entirely dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the science fiction classic, which will be celebrated worldwide in 2027, giving the classic a special additional recognition.<br><br>Film in German language<br>Age rating from 6 years. Benjamin Pope

Conductor

Conductor, composer and arranger Benjamin Pope has already conducted in concert halls and opera houses around the world. He specializes in ballet and dance music, as well as live accompaniment of films and film sequences. John Williams and Disney have officially recognized him as the conductor of the iconic "Star Wars" music. He is also committed to music education, including as principal conductor of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra's education program "RPO Resound".
