Nina Bezu

Berlin-born soprano Nina Bezu is one of the most promising youthful dramatic voices of her generation and has recently made a number of important debuts, including as the Contessa (“Le nozze di Figaro”) at the Hanover State Opera, as Gerhilde (“Die Walküre”) alongside Jonas Kaufmann and under the baton of Dan Ettinger at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, and most recently in the title role of "Salome" at the Finnish National Opera in Helsinki. She was immediately invited back to make her role debut as Elisabeth de Valois in Verdi's “Don Carlos” in the same season. In the 2024/25 season, she also made her house debut at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo as Salome.

Recent guest appearances have included Mariana in Wagner's "Das Liebesverbot", the First Lady in "Die Zauberflöte", and the soprano solo in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony at the Staatstheater Braunschweig, as well as the Contessa in the new production of "Le nozze di Figaro" at the Staatstheater Cottbus. On the concert stage, she has performed in Dvorák's Stabat Mater, Verdi's Messa da Requiem, Brahms' "Ein deutsches Requiem" and Mendelssohn's "Paulus", all at the Herkulessaal in Munich, at the Theater Kempten with the Smetana Philharmonic Orchestra Prague and most recently with the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra at the Türk Telekom Opera Hall. With the Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire under the baton of Sascha Goetzel, she performed in Verdi's Messa da Requiem in Angers and Nantes.

In the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons, she was a member of the ensemble at the Theater Vorpommern. There she appeared as Leonora in Verdi's "Il trovatore", as Dido in Henry Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas", and as Brigomeide and Minna in Detlev Glanert's “Drei Wasserspiele".

In recent seasons, Nina Bezu has made guest appearances at the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Komische Oper Berlin, the Schloss Glatt Opera Festival, the Teatro Principal de Zaragoza, and the Auditorium Zaragoza, among others.

The soprano was invited by UEFA to sing at the opening ceremony of the 24th Champions League Final in 2015 at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin.

She is the winner of the Elizabeth Connell Prize – International Singing Competition, the Schloss Rheinsberg Singing Competition, a finalist in the Concurso Internacional Alfredo Kraus, the International Singing Competition for Wagner Voices in Karlsruhe and the New York International Vocal Competition. She is also a scholarship holder of the Richard Wagner Association of Braunschweig and, since 2023, a scholarship holder of the Olga Forrai Foundation.

After studying mathematics and philosophy at the Technical University of Berlin, Nina Bezu decided to study singing at the Berlin University of the Arts, first with Gabriele Schnaut, then with Robert Gambill and Carola Höhn, where she completed her master's degree with distinction. She received further artistic inspiration in masterclasses with Christiane Iven, Thomas Quasthoff, Norma Sharp, and Teresa Berganza.
