Soobin An was born in Busan, South Korea, where she began her musical education, winning national competitions at a young age and performing as a soloist with the United Korean Orchestra and the Busan Sinfonietta.
Before beginning her studies in Germany, she took lessons with Stefan Giglberger (principal cellist Konzerthausorchester Berlin). From 2014 she studied in Cologne and later in Detmold with Nicolas Altstaedt and Xenia Jankovic. In 2018, Soobin An completed her bachelor's degree with distinction, graduated with a master's degree in 2021 and began her concert exam studies with Xenia Jankovic in the same year. She took master classes with David Geringas, Troels Svane, Claudio Bohórquez, Gustav Rivinius, Sebastian Klinger, Maria Kliegel, Peter Bruns, Marcio Carneiro and Christoph Richter.
In 2022 she was awarded 1st prize at the Auryn Chamber Music Competition.
She has already gained orchestral experience as an intern and substitute with the Dortmund Philharmonic and the Detmold Chamber Orchestra. Since the beginning of the 2022/2023 season, Soobin An has been a member of the Kurt Masur Academy - Orchestra Academy of the Dresden Philharmonic.
