Schools

The Dresdner Philharmonie offers a variety of projects for school students. Listening, discovering and participating are the order of the day - whether during a visit to the orchestra's rehearsals, workshops on the world of sound, visits by musicians in the classroom, special guided tours or concerts for school classes...

Concerts for school classes

There is always something special in the free morning concerts for school classes: theDresdner Philharmonie and the Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra perform famous works of orchestral literature in moderated concerts for all grades.

These include “Pictures at an Exhibition” by Modest Mussorgsky and the 5th Symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, as well as “Peter and the Wolf” by Peter Tchaikovsky. Franz Schubert's “Great” Symphony will also be performed in the 2025/26 school year. We are looking forward to the crazy “Adventures of the Little Trumpet” and will hear the wonderful instrument saxophone with all its virtuosity in a very special school concert. In Hector Berlioz' famous “Symphonie fantastique”, the full splendor of sound of a large romantic symphony orchestra can be experienced.

The successful annual joint concert by the Dresden Youth Symphony Orchestra at the Heinrich Schütz Conservatory, reinforced by members of the Dresdner Philharmonie, this year brings the well-known story “Help, the Herdmanns are coming” by Barbara Robinson to the stage.

The Philharmonic Children's Choir enriches the program with a family concert “phil zu entdecken” as well as the popular Christmas concert “Sind die Lichter” and a school concert to get in the mood for the 2026 summer vacations.

We will also be playing the concert organ with all its stops and sounds for you.

Musicians visit schools

Instrument presentation and a small concert

A classroom and a lesson - that's all it takes for this step in music education! Musicians from the Dresdner Philharmonie visit interested classes, introduce their instruments and make music for and with the children. The planning of school visits is flexible and depends on your possibilities.
