Duration: approx. 1 hr without intermission
Longing for far-off places and homesickness. When Antonín Dvořák lived in New York for several years, he got to know the "New World" not only in the big city but also in the countryside. With enthusiasm and perseverance, he travelled many hours by train, gathering all sorts of impressions and melodies along the way. He encountered various people, such as a cheerful farmer and a newly wealthy industrialist who believed he could buy anything – even music. It was a land of unlimited possibilities. And so Dvořák created a symphony like none that had been heard before. Full of yearning and power.

Classes 5-8Antonín Dvořák
