Described in the Hamburger Abendblatt as "a new star in the firmament of conductors", Aurel Dawidiuk’s swift ascendance makes him one of classical music’s most promising talents. In August 2026, he started his tenure as General Music Director of Bochumer Symphoniker.
Highlights of the 2026/27 season as guest conductor include his return with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Dresdner Philharmonie, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover, as well as début appearances with Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, and Rotterdam Philharmonic, among others.
Aurel Dawidiuk’s recent guest-conducting engagements include appearances with Bamberger Symphoniker, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony. In 2024/25 and 2025/26, he was the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra's first ever Bernard Haitink Associate Conductor.
As an organist, in Spring 2026, he embarked on an recital tour performing at the Tonhalle Zürich, Wiener Konzerthaus, Kölner Philharmonie, and Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, to be followed in the current season by his appearances at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and the KKL Lucerne.
Born in Hannover, Aurel Dawidiuk studied conducting with Johannes Schlaefli and Christoph-Mathias Mueller at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, as well as organ with Martin Sander and piano with Till Fellner. He is winner of numerous international awards and prizes.
