Joschua Lettermann earned a master’s degree in music education from the Dresden University of Music, having previously studied school music, in both cases majoring in piano and specializing in orchestral conducting. Beyond his studies, he gained recognition as a pianist, particularly through the world premiere and first recording of the piano suite “La settimana” by contemporary composer Rolf Meister. As a conductor, he has appeared in symphony concerts and opera performances, as well as in assistant conducting roles and master classes. Numerous concerts have taken him—not least as an enthusiastic choir singer—to the Frauenkirche in Dresden, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, the Berlin Philharmonie, the Kulturpalast in Dresden, the Basilica of St. John Lateran in Rome, and on concert tours to Poland and Spain.
With the Dresden Philharmonic, Joschua Lettermann regularly takes the stage as part of the “abgeFRACKt” short concert series and works behind the scenes in orchestra management as a dramaturg, music educator, and project manager. In addition, he is involved in the management of the Werkstattorchester Dresden as its chairman of the board, as well as serving as the founder and manager of the young symphony orchestra “MainSymphonics.” In these roles as well, he can regularly be seen on stage as the host of (school) concerts.
