Yeeun Choi, born in Seoul, completed her Bachelor’s degree under Kyung-Sun Lee at Seoul National University and went on to study for her Master’s degree under Susanne Yoko Henkel at the Cologne University of Music and Dance. She subsequently completed her masterclass studies under Carolin Widmann at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Music and Theatre in Leipzig.
Alongside her work with orchestras, she is deeply committed to chamber music: in 2019, she and her string trio won first prize and the audience prize at the Chamber Music Competition organised by the HMT Leipzig. Her artistic work has been supported by a scholarship from Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Leipzig and a state scholarship from the Free State of Saxony. She is a regular member of the Freies Ensemble Dresden and performs as a guest with the renowned Wald Ensemble, which brings together musicians from leading European orchestras.
Following a stint as a member of the first violins on a fixed-term contract with the Nuremberg State Philharmonic, she has been a permanent member of the first violins in the Dresdner Philharmonie since August 2022.
